About Matt
I began running in the early 90s and enjoyed running 5K and 10K races. A hip fracture and a series of life events steered me away from running for about a decade. I returned to running and cycling in 2012 and have since run dozens of races from 5K to 25K, on both roads and trails. I also race the occasional gravel race and duathlon.
Over the years I've struggled with motivation and maintaining a consistent weight. In 2011 I weighed 220 pounds; I've since lost 40 pounds and kept it off. While I'm an experienced athlete in several disciplines, I am not "elite."
I decided to start coaching so that I can share my knowledge and experiences to help others on their fitness journey. I understand the struggles of time management and motivation and meet my clients where they are. I work with them to help them set realistic, attainable goals. I then provide the support, knowledge, and accountability to help them to meet and surpass their goals.
Training and Certifications
I am an RRCA level 1 running coach. I am also an NASM Certified Nutrition Coach and hold a specialization in Behavior Change. I have also completed additional training on GLP-1 weight loss medications and vegetarian sports nutrition.
